Pearsall Texas Chamber of Commerce - Agriculture

Pearsall Agriculture

The Land. Pearsall is located in the transition from irrigated farmland to semiarid brush and chaparral. Many types of legumes (peas, beans, clover, alfalfa, soybeans, etc.) grow here in the form of small trees or shrubs. Also mesquite and prickly pear cactus dominate the uncultivated land. The desert plants offer an interesting mix with the flora, which is usually considered much more rain loving.

Large white tail deer are the dominant mammals while armadillo, coyotes, skunks, jackrabbits, roadrunners, possums, and ground squirrels are also plentiful. Additionally, over 200 species of birds have been identified within the county, which is located in a flyway, an established route for migratory birds.
